Jack Devine had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 244 yards and seven TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes. That's the most passing touchdowns he has posted since back in August of 2024. Kade Millington was in the mix too, providing Regents with three scores.
Regents' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Braylon Compton, Cole Knippa, and Max Raeder, who each picked up one sack apiece. Drew Novy got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Midland Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 28-12 victory over the Guard. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Mustangs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Guard are ranked 353rd).
Midland Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Caleb Cruz and Reid Larson. Larson is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another thorn in Brook Hill's side was Coy Hayes, who made 14 total tackles.
Regents' record is now 11-0. As for Midland Christian, their record now sits at 8-3.
Everything went Regents' way against Midland Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as Regents made off with a 46-23 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Mustangs' Avery Morgan, who rushed for 78 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 104 yards on 11 of 17 attempts. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Knights to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
