It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Island Coast Gators can now relate to. They were beaten by the Tritons 96-65 on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (57), Island Coast still had to take the loss.
Island Coast's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of SirJoshua Anderson, who scored 19 points, and Jose Bido who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Anderson has scored all season. Mathias Harmon was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
It was another big night for Marcus Kelley Jr, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 assists for Mariner. Kelley Jr hasn't dropped below 15 points for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Lewis, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Island Coast now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Mariner, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 16-9 record this season.
Island Coast does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mariner, they will take on Cypress Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cypress Lake has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
