The Lake View Wild Gators have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Latta 53-50. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Lake View also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Lake View had a senior duo take command as Jayden Ford almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds and DJ Hardee scored 14 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Latta still got an impressive performance from Pernell Legette, who scored 17 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Legette has scored all season. Another player making a difference was J.P. Bley, who scored five points.
Lake View's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Latta, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake View will take on Green Sea Floyds at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Green Sea Floyds will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Lake View surely won't give up without a fight. Latta will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Hannah-Pamplico at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Hannah-Pamplico focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Friday.
