After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Central, the Heritage Christian Eagles were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They took down University 61-44. For Heritage Christian, this counts as revenge for the 38-36 loss University walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Heritage Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Peters out in front who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Schnippel, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, University had strong showings from Blake Gray, who scored 12 points along with two steals, and Max Mccomb, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Mccomb has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Montgomery Holland was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three blocks.
Heritage Christian's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for University, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heritage Christian will take on Lapel at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage Christian is on a five-game streak of home wins, Lapel a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. University will take on Eminence at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully University is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Eminence in Indiana (University is ranked 181st, while Eminence is ranked 438th).
