After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Washington Township, North Newton was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They blew past the Tri-County Cavaliers 10-0. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.
Sydney Rainford made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Caylee Oxley was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was June Busboom, who earned three RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
North Newton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
