The Satellite Scorpions will head out to challenge the East River Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Satellite will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Satellite got the win against Lake Highland Prep by a conclusive 8-2. The Scorpions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
Brandon Reiter and Jaidan Batts were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Reiter tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Batts pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Reiter has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Reiter scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Batts got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, MJ Valdes was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
Satellite always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when East River took on Montverde Academy on Monday. The Falcons came up short against the Eagles, falling 14-3. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Alejandro Medina made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Satellite pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for East River, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Satellite has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like East River struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
