Alhambra is 0-3 against Northgate since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Alhambra Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Northgate Broncos at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Alhambra had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 71-61 win over De Anza on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Samuel Gillaspy continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-9 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. Cooper Largent was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Northgate sidestepped Mountain House for a 53-51 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given Northgate's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Mountain House is ranked 50th).
Grayson Boustead was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 23 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Andjus, who scored 14 points.
The losses dropped both teams to an identical 3-4.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Alhambra and Northgate are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Alhambra hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 55.1 points per game. However, it's not like Northgate struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 57.6 per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run up the score up higher Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
