The Washington Patriots are taking a road trip to face off against the Morgantown Mohigans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Washington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Washington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Hedgesville, who was ranked 14th at the time (Washington was ranked 19th). The Patriots were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Eagles on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Patriots considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Sven Dupree made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He also got a hit, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Trace Hough was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Landon Brady was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Morgantown sidestepped University for a 4-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Mohigans in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won three in a row.
Maddox Boggs tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Morgantown saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quincy Joseph, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Morgantown pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Washington, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3.
Morgantown's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Washington has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game.
