Tulia is 2-7 against Spearman since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tulia Hornets will be playing at home against the Spearman Lynx at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Tulia and three for Spearman.
Tulia fell victim to Canadian's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 72-0 loss at the hands of the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, Tulia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1083rd, while Canadian is ranked 71st).
Meanwhile, Spearman came up short against Friona on Friday and fell 40-27.
Tulia's defeat was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-2 Muleshoe and 6-3 Childress (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63.8% over those games). As for Spearman, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Tulia took a serious blow against Spearman in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 52-6. Will Tulia have more luck at home instead of on the road?
