Basketball Recap: Sugar-Salem Find Success

Sugar-Salem won the last time they faced Kimberly and Andee Petterson did her part to make sure it happened again. The Diggers were the clear victors by a 69-47 margin over the Bulldogs on Tuesday thanks in part to Petterson, who went 10-for-18 on her way to 24 points and six steals. The contest was her fourth in a row with at least 18 points.

Another player making a difference was Tasha Larsen, who shot 67% from the field en route to 16 points and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, she now owns an excellent 50% field goal percentage.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooklyn VerWey, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. VerWey continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Avery Beard also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Sugar-Salem's record is now 4-0. As for Kimberly, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sugar-Salem will take on Preston in a tournament on Friday. As for Kimberly, they will face off against Snake River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
