Baseball Recap: Spanish Fork Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Spanish Fork, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against the Timpview Thunderbirds on Wednesday as they made off with an 8-1 win. This was a revenge game for the Dons: when they faced off against the Thunderbirds on Monday, they had to take a 7-6 defeat.

Jackie Sorenson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Spanish Fork is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-15 otherwise. Sorenson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Spanish Fork got a great performance from Kayden Lambson as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Lambson has posted since back in March.

Back at the plate, Spanish Fork let Boston Duvall and Nixon Warren run wild. Duvall went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Warren went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Trigg Cloward also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Spanish Fork always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Spanish Fork's victory bumped their record up to 9-16. As for Timpview, they dropped their record down to 9-16 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

As of now, neither Spanish Fork nor the Thunderbirds have any future games scheduled.
