The Dexter Tigers were the 75-50 winner over the Mattanawcook Lynx when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Dexter fell 50-43 to Mattanawcook on Thursday.
Dexter lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ethan Doherty, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Kellen Peavey, who scored 19 points.
Even though they lost, Dexter were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Dexter's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Mattanawcook, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dexter will stay at home for another game and welcome Central at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Mattanawcook will finish 2023 at home by hosting Sumner at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maine (Sumner is ranked 81st, while Mattanawcook is ranked 58th).
