Mira Mesa took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Foothills Christian 3-2.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Mira Mesa who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 19-25, 15-10.

Among those leading the charge was Camille Collado, who had 28 digs and three aces. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 11.5 digs per game. Janaeye Sedeno also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
They weren't the only good server: Mira Mesa was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 12 aces in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Bonita Vista suffered their biggest loss since October 22, 2024 on Wednesday. They came up short against Santana, falling 3-0.
The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-19, 25-16.
Mira Mesa's record now sits at 3-5. As for Bonita Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Mira Mesa couldn't quite get it done against Bonita Vista when the teams last played back in September of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Marauders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
