The Dell Rapids Quarriers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Dakota Valley Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on February 9th. Dell Rapids will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Dakota Rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Dakota Valley is ranked 19th).
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 75-44, which was the final score in Dell Rapids' tilt against Mt. Vernon/Plankinton on Tuesday. Dell Rapids has not had much luck with Mt. Vernon/Plankinton recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, Dakota Valley pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 69-56 to Vermillion.
Dakota Valley's loss came about despite a quality game from Cameryn Sommervold, who scored 16 points along with two blocks. Sophie Tuttle was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Dell Rapids' defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Dakota Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
Things could have been worse for Dell Rapids, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-34 loss to Dakota Valley in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Dell Rapids avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
