Basketball Recap: North Marion Piles Up the Points Against Lake Weir

North Marion waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 49-16 victory over the Lake Weir Hurricanes. The Colts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 20 points or more this season.

Leading North Marion to victory were JAMEYA BROWN and JERMEA JACKSON. BROWN went 8 for 13 on her way to 19 points, while JACKSON almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which BROWN has scored at least a third of North Marion's points. The team also got some help courtesy of ZIPPORAH MOZELL, who posted two points and six rebounds.

North Marion smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

North Marion now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Lake Weir, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

North Marion will take on Vanguard in a tournament on Tuesday. As for Lake Weir, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-11 defeat against Belleview on the 10th.
