Georgetown is 2-8 against the Lions since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Georgetown Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Loris Lions at 6:00 p.m. Georgetown has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
Last Tuesday, Georgetown lost to the Monarchs at home by a decisive 57-39 margin. Georgetown has not had much luck with the Monarchs recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought contest, but Loris had to settle for a 35-32 loss against the Warriors on Tuesday. Loris has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Loris got a solid performance out of Janiya Richburg, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 19 rebounds. Richburg is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ke'Asia Smith, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Georgetown dropped their record down to 2-19 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Loris, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13.
Georgetown suffered a grim 45-20 defeat to the Lions in their previous meeting back in January. Can Georgetown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
