Surry County has won four straight games at home, while Windsor has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Cougars will host the Dukes at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Surry County was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Franklin on Tuesday. The Cougars blew past the Broncos 19-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Blake Edwards and Dawson Keckler were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Edwards struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Keckler pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025. At bat, Edwards went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Keckler went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Edwards has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.
Surry County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, Windsor got themselves on the board against Brunswick on Tuesday, but Brunswick never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 21-0 victory.
Like Surry County, Windsor also got a great game from a pair of two-way players: Rylin Szymanski. On the mound, Szymanski tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Blake Darden pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Szymanski went 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Darden went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Surry County's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Windsor, their victory bumped their record up to 16-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Surry County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Windsor struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Surry County suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Windsor in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
