West Carteret put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the White Oak Vikings as they made off with a 9-1 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.
Kaelyn Margoupis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Addison Pavy was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Kyrstyn Braswell was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
West Carteret hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as White Oak struck out nine times.
West Carteret's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for White Oak, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
