The St. Monica Mariners lost against the Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. St. Monica took a serious blow against Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, falling 42-6. St. Monica has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Elijah Wilson and Joshua Barnes certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Wilson rushed for 112 yards on only 14 carries, while Barnes picked up 100 receiving yards. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Angel Cevallos was his usual excellent self, rushing for 140 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Roy Vazquez was another key contributor, punching in a rushing scores.
St. Monica's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
St. Monica will head out on the road to face off against Bosco Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Maranatha at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Maranatha is ranked 458th, while Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary is ranked 439th).
