The Christian Community Warriors will head out on the road to challenge Horizon Science Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Horizon Science Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Christian Community, who comes in off a win.
Christian Community put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Heritage Christian 69-37 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Christian Community has posted since December 12, 2023.
Christian Community can attribute much of their success to Nate Miller, who scored 21 points along with five assists and two steals, and Grant Doeringer, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and seven assists. Doeringer is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Seth Roberts, who scored six points along with three blocks and two steals.
Meanwhile, Horizon Science Academy's 10-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell to Westside Christian Academy 54-49. Horizon Science Academy found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 18 to 11 on offense.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Braylon Myrick, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That was a full 44.9% of Horizon Science Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Laval Stevens was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
Christian Community has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. As for Horizon Science Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Christian Community have been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 46.6% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Horizon Science Academy struggles in that department as they've nailed 37.7% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Christian Community was able to grind out a solid victory over Horizon Science Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 44-37. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Horizon Science Academy's Nehki Bryant, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Christian Community to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
