Basketball Game Preview: Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders vs. Calvary Christian Warriors

Clearwater Central Catholic is 0-8 against Calvary Christian since December of 2014 but things could change on Friday. The Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders are taking a road trip to challenge the Calvary Christian Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Clearwater Central Catholic sitting on three straight wins and Calvary Christian on 11.

Last Tuesday, Clearwater Central Catholic sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-47 victory over Countryside.

Clearwater Central Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emme Dalhoff, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine steals. Dalhoff is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Sophia Landen was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Clearwater Central Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Calvary Christian didn't have too much trouble with Anclote on Thursday as they won 55-39. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while the Sharks are ranked 488th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clearwater Central Catholic's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 25.5 points. As for Calvary Christian, their record now sits at 11-0.

Clearwater Central Catholic couldn't quite finish off Calvary Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 45-43. Can Clearwater Central Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
