Basketball Game Preview: Glen Allen Jaguars vs. J.R. Tucker Tigers

Glen Allen has gone 9-1 against J.R. Tucker recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Glen Allen Jaguars face off against the J.R. Tucker Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Glen Allen has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Glen Allen will head into Friday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 34) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Hermitage 76-74. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Jaguars have posted since January 19, 2024.

Faron Friend was his usual excellent self, putting up 25 points and five rebounds. His evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase James, who posted 14 points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, J.R. Tucker hadn't done well against Freeman recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. J.R. Tucker had just enough and edged Freeman out 67-64. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Mavericks are ranked 104th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Glen Allen pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for J.R. Tucker, their record now sits at 11-1.

Glen Allen came up short against J.R. Tucker in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 49-44. Can Glen Allen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
