Section 1 A - 2 recap October 8, 2013
Beacon's Tauras Phillips recorded the longest rushing play in Section 1 A - 2 this season in his game against Sleepy Hollow last week. Phillips ran for 93 yards on the play and finished with 147 on the day as his team lost to the Horsemen.
Fans got a thrill when Justin Davidov and James Johnson connected against Port Chester. The longest such play in the league this season, the connection resulted in 62 yards.
Beacon's dynamic duo of Kyle Perrucci and Kishaun Bell proved tough for Sleepy Hollow to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Perrucci threw for 229 yards and 2 touchdowns and Bell had 109 yards receiving. Phillips helped Beacon's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 70 yards.
He went 13-26 with 1 interception.
Devin Lopez was a passing and rushing force as Steve Borys' team topped Brian Mahon's team. He completed 8 passes for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 251 yards. Lopez's favorite target this week was Dan Chevere, who caught 2 passes for 40 yards.
Lopez was a beast in the backfield as the Horsemen defeated the Bulldogs.
Ossining's Davidov and Johnson have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Davidov has thrown for 851 yards this season, while Johnson has 13 catches for 332 yards. Lopez from Sleepy Hollow leads the league in rushing with 648 yards.
The top two teams in Section 1 A - 2 will face off this week when first place Sleepy Hollow takes on second place Rye. The Horsemen beat Beacon last week, while Rye topped Hendrick Hudson.
Lincoln was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 11th to seventh in the league. The Lancers beat Yonkers 46-6 earlier in the week.
