The Colonial Grenadiers are taking a road trip to face off against the Hagerty Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Colonial has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Hagerty will arrive with four straight wins.
Colonial came up short against Tohopekaliga on Wednesday, falling 9-3.
Colonial saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Montana Ashe, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Natalie Cabrera also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Hagerty let Windermere stack four runs on them in the third inning on Tuesday but luckily Hagerty prevailed anyway. The Huskies came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wolverines, sneaking past 8-6. Surprisingly, this marked the Huskies' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Hagerty also got a great performance from Ariana Hardman as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hardman has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hagerty let Ana Roman and Alexandra Beldowicz run wild. Roman went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Beldowicz went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Roman has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Hargrave, who went 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Hagerty pushed their record up to 18-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Colonial, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Colonial hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Hagerty struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
