The Wake Forest Cougars will face off against the Heritage Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Wake Forest 2.5, Heritage 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Heritage will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Wake Forest extended their winning streak to four on Monday. The Cougars put the hurt on Northern Durham with a sharp 14-5 victory. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Griffin Gerrity looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Joseph Hlavacek and Stephen Crater did most of the damage at the plate: Hlavacek went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and one triple, while Crater got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Crater a new career-high. Aramis Perez was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Wake Forest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .605 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Heritage sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Fuquay-Varina on Friday.
Sean Neumann tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Leighton Cash was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellis Droke, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
Wake Forest's victory bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Heritage, their win bumped their record up to 16-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wake Forest has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Wake Forest got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Heritage by a conclusive 8-1 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
