Softball Recap: Brewer Has No Trouble Against East Limestone

Brewer barely beat East Limestone the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Patriots put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 16-5 win on Tuesday. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Gracie Lawrence was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Lawrence was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March.

In other batting news, AB Anton and Breia Rusk did most of the damage at the plate: Anton scored two runs while going 3-for-3, while Rusk scored three runs while going 1-for-3. Those three hits gave Anton a new career-high. Cheyenne Lucas was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Brewer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Limestone only managed seven hits.

Brewer's win bumped their record up to 14-11-1. As for East Limestone, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brewer will challenge Madison Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for East Limestone, they will be playing at home against James Clemens at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Jets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.14 runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of.
