It was a good run, but the Lawrenceville Indians unfortunately witnessed the end of their 13-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 65-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Newton. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Lawrenceville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bryant Jenkins. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Landon Sanders, who scored 11 points.
Lawrenceville's defeat dropped their record down to 17-3. As for Newton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.
Lawrenceville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Richland County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Richland County is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Lawrenceville a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Newton will take on Teutopolis at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
