Tuscarora (Leesburg, Va.) grabbed the lead when
Noah Reimers ran for a touchdown with under a minute left in the fourth quarter and held on to defeat
Woodgrove (Purcellville, Va.) 35-31 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured five lead swaps.
The Wolverines pulled ahead on a
Joshua Sweet touchdown run, and subsequently went into halftime leading 17-14. The Huskies took the lead for good with a touchdown run by Reimers in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring seven points in the third, Tuscarora still trailed by 3 points going into the fourth quarter. But 14 points in the fourth helped THS pull out the victory.
Sweet played well for Woodgrove. The junior running back ran for two touchdowns.
The Leesburg school's most effective player was Reimers. The sophomore ran for five touchdowns.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 43-28 win for the Huskies.
The loss comes after Woodgrove defeated Heritage 51-20 last week. With the win Tuscarora extended its winning streak to four games.
In a AA Dulles game next week Tuscarora (8-1) takes on Heritage, and Woodgrove (6-3) will go up against Loudoun Valley also in a AA Dulles game.
