Vestaburg is 1-7 against Carson City-Crystal since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Wolverines will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Carson City-Crystal took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Vestaburg, who comes in off a win.
On Monday, Vestaburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Webberville, taking the game 9-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolverines.
Lucas Bunton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Vestaburg: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jansen Scholer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carter Allbee, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Vestaburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Carson City-Crystal fell victim to Reese and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 13-0 to the Rockets.
Carson City-Crystal's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Vestaburg, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
