Mullen is 9-1 against Smoky Hill since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Buffaloes at 4:15 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Mullen turned things around against Mountain View on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Mountain Lions by a score of 5-2.

Dalton Marsh looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Luke Stevenson was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Young, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Smoky Hill hadn't done well against Mullen recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Buffaloes narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Mustangs 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Buffaloes have posted since March 13th.
Nolan Beckwith looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hudson Roth, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Anwyl Gutierrez-Trujillo, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Smoky Hill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Mullen picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 6-9. As for Smoky Hill, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 6-10.
Mullen couldn't quite finish off Smoky Hill in their previous matchup on Tuesday and fell 10-8. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
