The North Marion Colts''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were dealt a 56-20 loss at the hands of Williston. North Marion was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.
Leading Williston to victory were Jace Mcdonald and Jharez Williams. Mcdonald gained 96 total yards and three touchdowns, while Williams rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Jamari Williams was another key contributor, rushing for 61 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Williston's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Jymir Williams and Timothy Taylor Jr. who racked up five sacks between them.
North Marion's defeat was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-0 Hawthorne and 6-2 Suwannee (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 75.7% over those games). As for Williston, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
North Marion will head out on the road to face off against Seabreeze at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Williston, they will be playing at home against Citrus at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Citrus comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last nine games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
