Baseball Recap: Bosque Find Success

While Bosque's win against Dexter wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bobcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Demons 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bobcats have posted since March 12th.

Drew Hebert made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Bosque's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Aiden Carranza was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Bosque: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Arnel Zamora also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Bosque always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Bosque's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-6. As for Dexter, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
