The Plainfield South Cougars were the 44-38 winner over the Peotone Blue Devils when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Plainfield South fell just short of Peotone by a score of 47-44.
When it comes to explaining why Plainfield South lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Destynia Mcgruder. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tierra Abner, who scored seven points along with five assists.
Plainfield South's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Peotone, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-4.
Plainfield South and Plainfield North will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Peotone, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wilmington at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Wilmington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 517th, while Peotone is ranked 174th).
