Video: North Carolina signee Deja Kelly highlights
Watch the Duncanville senior in action.
"Fast and Furious 9" releases this summer, but when Universal Pictures gets around to making "Fast and Furious 11," all they have to do is show highlights of Duncanville's 2020 season.
The 11 would represent the number of girls basketball state championships the Panthers have won, including Saturday's 63-47 win over Cypress Creek. The Fast and Furious would be the play of star guard Deja Kelly, who has developed into one of the top players in the country and has been selected as t
he 2019-20 Suddenlink Texas Player of the Year. Kelly, who committed to North Carolina, earned Class 6A state tournament MVP honors after leading the Panthers to the title. Duncanville has won five state championships since 2012, but this was the first since 2017. Kelly was the leading scorer in the Dallas area, according to the Dallas News, with an average of 24 points per game. She also helped Duncanville rise to No. 5 in the MaxPreps Top 25 national girls high school basketball rankings. She is also one of two players from Texas chosen to the McDonald's All-American basketball game.
