The University of Notre Dame landed its
21st football recruit on Friday when defensive star
Ishaq Williams pledged to the Fighting Irish, according to the
South Bend Tribune.
Williams, who is ranked as the
No. 84 player in the country by CBS-MaxPreps recruiting analyst Tom Lemming, already has graduated from Lincoln (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and will enroll at Notre Dame on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-6, 220-pounder, who helped the Railsplitters to a PSAL championship game in New York, is expected to play defensive end and outside linebacker.
Lincoln has been known as a basketball powerhouse. Williams will join Stephon Marbury, Sebastian Telfair and Lance Stephenson as graduates of Lincoln High School.
Notre Dame got more good news Saturday when
Aaron Lynch, a highly-touted defensive end from
Island Coast (Cape Coral, Fla.) re-committed to the Irish, according to Lemming.
At least that's for now.
Lynch, a 6-foot-6, 265-pound senior, originally committed to the Notre Dame, then switched allegiance to Florida State, but has changed his mind again back to the Irish.
"He's a super big (catch) because Notre Dame has struggled with defensive linemen for years," Lemming said. "He is the best defensive end they've recruited since Ross Browner. In the U.S. Army Army game he excelled with a couple of sacks and he was in the backfield most of the time."
Lynch is the No. 61 recruit in the country overall, according to Lemming.
