The James Buchanan Rockets will challenge the Big Spring Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
Things were looking good for James Buchanan after they put the first runs on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Shippensburg by a score of 8-7.

04/01/25 @ West Perry | 13 |
03/28/25 @ Delone Catholic | 12 |
Lilianna Wiley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Brooklyn Sanchez and Karli Gordon did some serious damage despite the final result: Sanchez went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple, while Gordon scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Gordon also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emileigh Linn, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Big Spring entered their tilt with Delone Catholic on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Squires 16-1. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by eight runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Lily Raudabaugh, who went 1-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Izzy Fry was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Big Spring kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Big Spring pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for James Buchanan, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
James Buchanan suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Big Spring in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
