The Severance Silver Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Riverdale Ridge, falling 71-39. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Severance in their matchups with Riverdale Ridge: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Silver Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Erin Crownhart, who scored seven points. Attley Helzer was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Riverdale Ridge found their leader in underclassman Brihanna Crittendon, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 15 rebounds. Crittendon is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Cimonie Martinez, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Severance's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Riverdale Ridge, they pushed their record up to 11-3 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Severance won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Thompson Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Thompson Valley is ranked 106th, while Severance is ranked 118th). As for Riverdale Ridge, they will be playing at home against Niwot at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
