Hackley has gone a perfect 7-0 against Riverdale Country recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hornets will look to defend their home field against the Falcons at 4:30 p.m. Hackley's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Riverdale Country's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Hackley's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when Poly Prep Country Day hitters got past them. The Hornets came up short against the Blue Devils on Monday, falling 11-2. The match marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverdale Country). They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over Horace Mann on Wednesday. With that win, the Falcons brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
E V made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those doubles were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Ria Laddha and Izzy Shin did most of the damage at the plate: Laddha went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Shin got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Laddha has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tess Evans, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Riverdale Country kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Having lost for the first time this season, Hackley fell to 5-1. As for Riverdale Country, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Hackley took their win against Riverdale Country in their previous matchup on April 4th by a conclusive 25-0 score. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
