Softball Recap: Hillcrest Wins Going Away Against Corner Canyon

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Stansbury, Hillcrest was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Everything went their way against the Corner Canyon Chargers as Hillcrest made off with a 7-1 win. That's more bragging rights for the Huskies, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Hillcrest let Lila Vawdrey and Adrie Sullivan run wild. Vawdrey scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Sullivan scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Sullivan a new career-high in doubles (two). Skylynn Salazar Bell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Hillcrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Corner Canyon only posted an OBP of .400.

Hillcrest's record now sits at 4-8. As for Corner Canyon, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillcrest will host Cottonwood at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cottonwood has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.43 runs per game on average), something Hillcrest will no doubt try to take advantage of.
