Wendover hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They managed a 61-55 victory over the Tintic Miners on Friday. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 50.8 points per game.

Wendover had a senior duo take command as Raul Valle posted 21 points in addition to five boards and three steals and Kevin Gonzalez almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Gonzalez is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Braxton Bateman was another key player, putting up six points.

When it comes to explaining why Tintic lost, don't look at Cole Ward. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Ward a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Haygen Jameson, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Wendover's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Tintic, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-4 record this season.

Wendover has already played their next game, a 60-40 win against St. Joseph on the 11th. As for Tintic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-53 defeat against Tabiona on the 11th.
