Mt. Diablo and Campolindo are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Red Devils will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Mt. Diablo has given up an average of 17.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Mt. Diablo is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 27-11 margin over Ygnacio Valley on Friday. With that win, the Red Devils brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Chrisette(CJ) Jackson was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Valeria Zamora- Martinez, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Campolindo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Concord, falling 18-4. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly 14 runs.
Paige Williams was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Bea Nelson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Campolindo's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Mt. Diablo, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-15.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mt. Diablo has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Campolindo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mt. Diablo suffered a grim 22-7 defeat to Campolindo in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Red Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
