The Burney Raiders will head out to face off against the Plumas Charter Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Burney has six straight wins, Plumas Charter has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Burney's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Redding Christian 16-0. Considering the Raiders have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mia Perez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Burney let Isabella Prindiville and Alexis Witzel run wild. Prindiville went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Witzel went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Prindiville a new career-high. Gabrielle Weidner also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Burney kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 14 hits in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Plumas Charter came up short against Chester on Wednesday, falling 21-3.
Amaiya Beatty was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Savana Hymas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Burney's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Plumas Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-18-1.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Burney hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Plumas Charter struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Burney was able to grind out a solid victory over Plumas Charter when the teams last played back in April, winning 10-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
