The Memphis East Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Hutchison Sting at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Memphis East has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 261 points over their last four contests.
Memphis East has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 31 points or more this season. They blew past Ridgeway 61-30 at home. Given Memphis East's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Ridgeway is ranked 260th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Memphis East found their leader in underclassman McKenzie Register, who scored 15 points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. Casey Teague was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hutchison had just enough and edged Marion out 47-44 last Friday.
Memphis East pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Hutchison, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Memphis East beat Hutchison 59-49 in their previous meeting back in November of 2016. Does Memphis East have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hutchison turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
