The Patrick Henry Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Hoover Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Patrick Henry focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Patrick Henry strolled past Army-Navy with points to spare, taking the game 52-34. Given Patrick Henry's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 505th, while Army-Navy is ranked 1157th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Patrick Henry's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Derek McBride, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, and Kenneth Klu, who scored 20 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The game was McBride's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonas DeWitt, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Hoover pushed their score all the way to 56 last Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 70-56 to San Diego. Hoover has not had much luck with San Diego recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Patrick Henry now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Hoover, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Patrick Henry came up short against Hoover in their previous meeting back in February, falling 78-69. Can Patrick Henry avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
