Baseball Game Preview: Independence Blue Devils vs. Trinity Trojans

For the second straight game, Independence will face off against Trinity. The Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Independence's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.

Independence's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Trinity with a sharp 25-0 win. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Sam Crooks was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Crooks is crushing it when it comes to RBI: he's brought in at least three every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Independence got a massive performance out of Vinny Carriero, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave Carriero a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Jenks, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Independence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Independence's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Trinity, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
