After losing to the Coral Gables Cavaliers the last time they met, the LaSalle Royal Lions decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. LaSalle walked away with a 31-24 victory over Coral Gables on Saturday. Given LaSalle's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Coral Gables is ranked 571st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
LaSalle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rachael Restrepo led the charge by scoring eight points. Natalia Davila was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.
LaSalle's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Coral Gables, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
LaSalle is on the road again on Saturday and play against Schoolhouse Prep at 1:00 p.m. on December 16th. Schoolhouse Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Coral Gables will be home for the holidays to greet Lourdes Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lourdes Academy will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
