Winning is just a little bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 23% better than the opposition, a fact the North Tahoe Lakers proved on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 65-45 margin over Oasis Academy. With North Tahoe ahead 39-17 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Leading North Tahoe to victory were Gavin Green and Cormac Springsteel. Green scored 14 points, while Springsteel scored 20 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rowin Springsteel, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Several Bighorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trevor Barrenchea, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Barrenchea also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Matthew Bird, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals.
North Tahoe pushed their record up to 11-11 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Oasis Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.
North Tahoe will head out on the road to challenge the Bighorns at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in their respective states (Oasis Academy is ranked 92nd in Nevada, while the Lakers are ranked 86th in California). As for Oasis Academy, they will look to defend their home court against the Lakers at 7:30 p.m.
