The Paragould Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Southside Southerners at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Paragould is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Paragould ended up a good deal behind Brookland and lost 28-13.
Meanwhile, Southside stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They really took it to Batesville for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-10 win on the road. Given Southside's advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas football rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Batesville is ranked 92nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gabe Witt had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 160 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 12 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Witt was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards.
Brookland's victory bumped their season record to 4-5 while Paragould's defeat dropped theirs to 2-8.
Paragould was taken down by Southside 44-7 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Paragould avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
