The Athol Bears had to endure a 13-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Mount Everett Regional 32-12. The win was just what Athol needed coming off of a 50-19 loss in their prior match.
Athol can attribute much of their success to Jenna Bonenfant, who scored 11 points along with two steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Martin, who scored five points along with two steals.
Athol's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-14. As for Mount Everett Regional, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.
Athol will be playing at home against Pioneer Valley Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Athol focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday. As for Mount Everett Regional, they will head out on the road to take on Springfield Renaissance at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Springfield Renaissance will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something Mount Everett Regional surely won't give up without a fight.
