The Prescott Badgers will head out to challenge the Coconino Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Prescott is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.
Prescott had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 28-run drubbing they dealt Agua Fria on Monday. The Badgers blew past the Owls 28-0. The win continues a trend for the Badgers in their matchups with the Owls: they've now won three in a row.
Andrew Jolley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Jolley was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, William Horn and Ashton Whitwell did most of the damage at the plate: Horn got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and three RBI, while Whitwell went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Whitwell has posted since back in February. Nicholas 'Nick' Martin was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.
Prescott was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Coconino came up short against Lee Williams on Thursday and fell 10-5.
Wes Shafor was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Coconino's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Prescott, their record now sits at 9-5.
Coconino's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Prescott hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. It's a different story for Coconino, though, as they've only averaged .249. Will they be able to contain Prescott's hitters?
Prescott got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March of 2025 against Coconino by a conclusive 15-3 score. Will the Badgers repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
